Ulyana Hammond’s Verglas is simply breath-taking – as deceptively simple and powerfully evocative as its title’s meaning, frozen rain. Dark wood-grained foil against a leeched, bleached background awash with watery light and studded with hand-applied, gleaming gold rocks. Ulyana’s artwork has a mercurial quality. Are they windswept mountains or coastal streetlights sketching the outline of a sweeping, sleeping bay?
